We have a client that has a HVAC system that needs to be able to send mail (running Schneider Electric TAC Xenta 5.1.9). We need to be able to have the HVAC send its mail to Office 365; the client migrated from an ancient (yes, I know it should be replaced, but it is a low-budget nonprofit that just managed to pay for a firewall and wireless upgrade) SBS 2003 box. So far, I haven't seen evidence that the HVAC box can communicate directly via TLS to Office 365, though I've tried that route by adding a connector on the Office portal.
The next step I tried was adding a connector in their Exchange 5.5 on the SBS server to communicate with smtp.office365.com. I set it up with authentication as one of the Office 365 mailboxes, using basic authentication and turning TLS on. Once I configured the HVAC box to send to the Exchange 5.5...
