I am not as experienced in Exchange / IIS / Security etc as I would like and am hoping for some advice before going down the following path.
Our sister company has recently migrated to Office365 and they hold all our email accounts. We are on a different domain and no longer directly connected to them over the WAN. We need to configure SMTP accounts for things such as Voicemail to Email, Scanner to Email etc, in our internal systems.
In order to complete this, it was suggested that I use either a 3rd part SMTP relay provider or setup a Virtual SMTP Server within IIS on our only server (a domain controller/file server etc).
I like the idea of using a Virtual SMTP relay server for the perceived (right or wrong)security of not needing to forward voicemails or sensitive scans across a third parties relay service. but I am concerned...
