office 365 calendar question

Okay, so I have a small outfit with 3 users that uses office 365. They currently share their calendars and have one person who delegates for the other two. This was originally setup with a fourth calendar that contains 'common' events that is also shared and they all have the ability to edit/create/delete events.

My question is, what is the easiest way to have the ability to create common events that they all see with out having conflicts with existing appointments or creating duplicates? An example might be to put a birthday, holiday, or other event on the calendar so that it shows on everyone's calendar, but not as an event that will conflict with other events but more as a reminder that the event exists.

I hope this makes sense. Any ideas? I am new to office 365, so please don't be vague.

Thank you!
