I manage a small office (25 users) running SBS 2008. Will be migrating to Server Essentials in a few months. In the meantime, I've been in contact with Microsoft about moving to Exchange Online before the server migration. I have a Razorsafe email archive appliance onsite, works well but being a physical server will need replacing in a year or so. Archiving within Exchange Online sounds good and much cheaper, but has anyone migrated from onsite email archival to cloud based?
I'll get answers from my rep, but I'd like to hear some real world examples and I imagine the rep will say yes it can be done. I'd like to know it can and, more importantly, how exactly before I go ahead.
My main concern is what about those users who are no longer part of the company? Their email is stored onsite in the archive but they wouldn't exist in Exchange...
