The setup
I am a K12 admin. I am also a Google school (boo/hiss or cheering? who knows), I am in the process of deploying Office 365 (for the web-based apps minus email).
Right now my AD is set to school.local, our website is schoolsd.com,
I have registered and configured the schoolsd.com to work as an available name in Office365's console. After my first replication all my users are username@publicschooldistrict.onmicrosoft.com.
From my reading Office365 creates logins based upon the UPN.
The Question
If I change all my users UPN from username@school.local to username@schoolsd.com Will that break my AD (is this a bad idea), our domain is School\username for logins already.
