I'm in the middle of an Office 365 deployment and I have a question regarding the names shown when sending an email. Currently, we are using the SimpleDisplayName (displayNamePrintable) in Exchange 2010 when we send externally and just the normal DisplayName when email is sent internally. We also use Lync. Below is an example of the differences currently in our system:
sn: Jordon Brill
DisplayName: Jordon Brill (JMB) Ext-123 Dsk-456
We have the user's initials, extension, and desk number in their display name for the purposes of being able to find these things quickly when looking in Lync and other cases. If we could put these items in attributes that were readily visible when doing a search in Lync then we could change it, but I haven't been able to find a way to display other attributes in a Lync search.
