Anyone used O365's In-Place eDiscovery & hold?
It was easy to set up. Since we're a govt agency and need to keep everything, I just set a forever-retention on each E3-licensed mailbox, so every single Exchange object ( message/meeting/chat/etc) gets retained and versioned. Granted, I'd have to up the remaining E1 licenses still.
Assuming all mailboxes have the Exchange Online 2/O365 E3 license, would a forever-hold on all mailboxes be a reliable Exchange backup solution?
What about restoring a single object? Whenever I'd try to browse the results through the web-based preview, it would just spit out every Exchange item in the organization, with no granular search ability noticed. It does give the option to download all discovered items as PST, which could then be browsed. However, at the current size of 500GB, I'd hate to have to pull it...
